Custom Made Orthotics

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure...

Customade foot orthotics are inserts that are placed in the shoe or boot to eliminate foot dysfunction. In addition to providing relief for painful foot problems or injury, for those who have jobs that require excessive standing or walking orthotics will often increase endurance, performance and decrease the chances of injury. For active individuals, orthotics can help to counteract the extra stress on the feet, as minor problems are often magnified. Slight imbalances in the foot that are not harmful or even detectable under usual circumstances may make one more vulnerable to injury.

A custom foot orthotic needs to provide semi-rigid support while allowing for shock absorption and terrain adaptation. This need is only magnified in workers on construction sites. Whether the worker is on a ladder, gravel, concrete floor or in a trench, the foot is always working on shock absorption and adaptation. To assist in these functions a foot orthotic needs to be properly calibrated to the weight, foot flexibility and activity level. Different workers and jobs require different orthotic sizes and properties, but all require the same biomechanical control and function. Foot pain is not normal and should not be ignored; problems can affect the functioning of other parts of the body, including the hips, knees, and back.

Many custom orthotics are made based on out-dated theories that do not significantly change foot function and do not take into account the demands of the construction worker. Unfortunately, even with the best intentions, these orthotics usually end up as expensive soft cushions or hard-as-rock braces that are respectively either ineffective or too uncomfortable for aggressive use. Each foot is unique and requires specific calibration for the right mix of flex and rigidity. This is the real custom factor absent in standard custom orthotics, therefore, we use the computerized gait scanning system, a revolutionary diagnostic tool for assessing the biomechanics of a patient's lower extremities. It is the most technologically advanced gait analysis system available and is at the forefront of orthotic therapy and patient education.
